Create your bot
Answer three questions and Chatbotta prepares the first version of your bot. Chat with it right away, then connect a channel and go live when you’re happy.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Create an account with “Sign up with Google” or “Sign up with email”. If you sign up with email, click the link in the verification email first.
- The first time you sign in, you go straight to the setup questions below. Members invited to someone else’s project skip them and go straight to that project.
- The content Chatbotta prepares, and the language your bot replies in, follow the interface language you use while answering. You can switch the “Language” at the bottom of the setup screen.
Answer three questions
Section titled “Answer three questions”The top of the screen shows “Step 1 of 3”. Choose “Back” to return to the previous question.
-
What kind of business do you run?
Pick the closest type: “Food & drink”, “Retail & online shop”, “Beauty & hair”, “Clinic & aesthetics”, “Hotel & lodging”, “Education & classes”, “Professional services” or “Other”. Chatbotta uses the questions businesses like yours get to prepare your first bot.
On the same screen, fill in “Business or brand name”. Your bot introduces itself with this name (up to 50 characters). Both are required.
-
Where do customers usually reach you?
Pick any of LINE, Facebook, Instagram and Website, or none; you can add channels any time. In the order LINE, Facebook, Instagram, Website, the first channel you pick decides how the chat preview looks and where the go-live button takes you.
-
Help your bot get to know you
Both are optional:
- “Website (optional)”: Chatbotta reads your website and turns it into common questions.
- “What do customers ask most? (optional)”: one question per line; add the answer if you know it.
Choose “Build my bot”.
Preparing your first bot
Section titled “Preparing your first bot”After you choose “Build my bot”, you see “Preparing your bot”. This usually takes under a minute. You can close the page; the work carries on. The screen shows each step as it goes:
- “Read (your website)”: only when you entered a website
- “Organize common questions”
- “Create the welcome message and menu”
- “Set when to hand over to a person”
- “Set the bot’s personality”
If a step doesn’t finish, it’s skipped and the next one runs; you can retry it later. If the preparation stalls, “Retry unfinished steps” continues from where it stopped, or choose “Open the project” to set things up yourself. If your website can’t be read, fix the address and choose “Read the website again”, or import it later in Knowledge.
To start over, choose “Cancel”: the preparation stops, the project is deleted and you’re back at the questions with your answers still filled in, ready to change and build again.
Meet your bot
Section titled “Meet your bot”When it’s ready, “Your bot is ready” opens. Everything here is still a draft, so customers can’t see it.
- What’s in your bot: four cards (“Welcome message and menu”, “N knowledge items”, “Hand over to a person” and “Personality”) describe in plain words what was prepared. Choose “Adjust” or “View” to change them: the welcome message lives in Flows, the knowledge in Knowledge, and handing over to a person and the personality under “Bot persona” in Knowledge.
- Chat with it: on the right (below on a phone) is a phone preview where you can talk to the draft bot. Try a question your customers often ask, and use “Preview platform” to see it as LINE, Messenger, Instagram or Website.
- Ask Copilot: choose “Fine-tune with Copilot” to have Copilot make changes by chatting.
If something wasn’t prepared, “Retry unfinished parts” appears here too.
Go live
Section titled “Go live”For customers to reach your bot, do two things:
- Connect a channel: choose the go-live button on the page. It follows the first channel you picked in the second question and reads “Go live on LINE”, “Go live on Facebook”, “Go live on Instagram” or “Add to your website”; if you picked none, it reads “Connect a channel”. It opens that channel’s setup in “Channels”; see Connect a channel.
- Publish: choose “Publish” at the top of the screen, review the changes and confirm. The bot answers customers only with published flows, while “Test” uses your draft flows; knowledge takes effect as soon as you save, without publishing.
Getting-started checklist
Section titled “Getting-started checklist”A new project’s “Overview” starts with the “Get started” checklist, which shows “N of 5 done”. Each step ticks itself once it really happens:
| Step | Done when |
|---|---|
| “Send a test message” | You write something in “Test” in the side panel and see how the bot answers. |
| “Change the welcome message” | You make the welcome message sound like you and publish it. On a phone the button reads “Ask Copilot to change it”. |
| “Add your knowledge” | Knowledge has at least 5 FAQs or documents of your own. |
| “Connect a channel” | You connect LINE, Facebook, Instagram or website chat and the channel shows “Connected”, meaning the bot really answered a first message. |
| “Reply to your first customer” | When a customer needs a person, you answer them in Chats. |
Each step has a button to go there and a “Help” link. Steps your role can’t do say what access they need and who to ask, for example “Needs admin access · Ask an admin or the owner”.
“Later” folds the checklist into one line; “Continue” opens it again. Once all five steps are done, the checklist disappears.
Connect a channel
Section titled “Connect a channel”Wherever customers message you, the bot answers. Go to “Channels” on the left and choose “Add channel” to pick where. One project can connect several channels, and they all share the same flows and knowledge.
After connecting, send a message to your account from your phone (for website chat: open your website and send a message). Once the bot replies, the channel shows “Connected”. Connecting or disconnecting channels needs an admin or the owner.
Create more projects
Section titled “Create more projects”Each project is one bot with its own flows, knowledge, channels and members. Select the project name at the top left to open “Switch project”, then choose “New project” to answer the same three questions. You’re the “Owner” of every project you create.
Can customers see my new bot right away?
No. Everything that was prepared is a draft, and customers can’t see it. The bot answers customers once you connect a channel and choose “Publish”.
Can I connect LINE, Facebook, Instagram and my website at the same time?
Yes. One project can connect several channels, and they all share the same flows and knowledge.
Do I have to pay to get started?
New projects come with a 14-day free trial, with hands-on help setting up your bot and knowledge, and the trial can be extended depending on your progress. The overview reminds you when it’s about to end. After the trial the bot stops answering customers; the owner can choose a plan under “Plan and billing” in “Settings” and pay online by credit card to keep it running.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You build flows by dragging steps onto a canvas, or ask Copilot to build and change them by chatting.
How do I rename or delete a project?
Change the “Project name” under “General” in “Settings”. Deleting is under “Danger zone”; only the owner can delete a project, and it can’t be undone.
I was invited to a project but can’t find it.
Sign in with the email the invitation was sent to and the project appears. Invitations expire after 14 days; ask for a new one if yours has.
