LINE Official Account pricing in Taiwan 2026: Light NT$0, Medium NT$1,000, Heavy NT$1,400 (from November 1)
The plans and prices in this article are for LINE Official Account in Taiwan; they differ from those in other countries such as Japan.
After opening a LINE Official Account, the first question many shop owners have is: what costs money and what doesn’t? Why do some pay a few hundred NT dollars a month while others get bills in the thousands? This article explains LINE Official Account pricing in plain terms: how the three message plans compare, which messages are billed, how to choose a plan based on your number of friends, and where to start cutting your message costs.
LINE has announced that from November 1, 2026, the monthly fees of the Medium and Heavy plans each go up by NT$200, while the free message quotas stay the same. The prices and estimates in this article have been updated accordingly.
Comparison of the three message plans
| Plan | Monthly fee (through Oct 31, excl. tax) | Monthly fee (from Nov 1, excl. tax) | Free messages | Extra messages |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light | NT$0 | NT$0 | 200/month | Not available |
| Medium | NT$800 | NT$1,000 | 3,000/month | Not available |
| Heavy | NT$1,200 | NT$1,400 | 6,000/month | Available, tiered pricing; from Nov 1, NT$0.2 per message for messages 1–50,000 and NT$0.15 per message from message 50,001 |
Which messages are billed, and which aren’t?
This is where most owners get confused. In one sentence: messages you send on your own are billed; messages where the customer speaks first are not.
- Billed: push messages (broadcast/push)—promotional broadcasts, segmented pushes, and messages sent proactively to customers through the API. Each recipient counts as one message, so one broadcast to 1,000 friends is 1,000 messages.
- Not billed: replies to messages customers send you (reply)—when a customer messages you first and you (or your bot) reply through the Messaging API, the reply does not count toward your plan quota.
That leads to an important conclusion: no matter how much you use auto-replies, they won’t increase your message costs. What really drives up the bill is untargeted broadcasting to everyone. If you haven’t set up auto-replies yet, start with our complete guide to LINE auto-reply.
How to choose a plan: estimate with friends × broadcasts
Before choosing a plan, work out one number: monthly push messages = friends who receive the push × pushes per month. Here are three scenarios:
Scenario 1: A solo studio with 150 friends, one broadcast a month
150 people × 1 = 150 messages/month, within the Light plan’s 200, so the Light plan (NT$0) is enough. Everyday questions about opening hours or services are handled by auto-replies, with no message costs at all.
Scenario 2: A guesthouse with 800 friends, three pushes a month
800 people × 3 = 2,400 messages/month, over 200 but within 3,000, so choose the Medium plan (NT$1,000/month from November 1). Note that the Medium plan doesn’t allow extra messages, so if you want to send one more campaign in a given month you may get stuck. Check your remaining quota before each push.
Scenario 3: An e-commerce brand with 5,000 friends, two or more pushes a month
5,000 people × 2 = 10,000 messages/month, so go straight to the Heavy plan (NT$1,400/month from November 1). The 4,000 messages beyond the 6,000 quota must be purchased. At the post-November 1 rate of NT$0.2 per message for messages 1–50,000, that is about NT$800, for a monthly total of about NT$2,200 (excl. tax). At this volume, segmented pushes matter even more for controlling costs; see three ways to cut LINE broadcast costs.
Once you have the right plan, reduce your push volume
The other half of the cost comes down to how you send: segmented pushes instead of broadcasting to everyone, turning announcement-style content into non-billed auto-replies, and using an AI knowledge base so customers ask on their own. Each of these directly cuts a batch of push messages. We cover the specific methods and setup steps in How to cut LINE broadcast costs: 3 ways to lower your Official Account message fees, so we won’t repeat them here.
What is the Advanced Chat plan?
Besides the message plans, LINE also offers the “Advanced Chat plan” for NT$100/month. It enhances chat management features and has nothing to do with your push message quota—subscribing doesn’t give you extra free messages, and not subscribing doesn’t affect auto-replies. Whether you need it depends on how heavily your team uses LINE’s built-in chat management. If you already manage conversations in a chatbot platform’s unified inbox, there is considerable overlap.
The Advanced Chat plan is currently also required to use LINE’s “AI chatbot (beta)”: you upload PDFs or images such as price lists, menus, and opening hours, and the system turns them into FAQ answers for customers. According to LINE, businesses in healthcare, finance, religion, politics/government, and legal services may not be able to use it, and there is a monthly cap on replies. What it can do and how it differs from an AI customer service platform is covered in LINE AI auto-reply: what the Official Account’s built-in AI chatbot can do.
Conclusion: choose the right plan, then add auto-replies
The cost logic of LINE Official Account is actually simple: pushes cost money, replies don’t. First pick the right plan using friends × pushes, then hand repetitive questions to auto-replies and a knowledge base, and you can usually keep costs at a reasonable level. To estimate the total cost once you add an AI customer service platform, see AI customer service costs compared with staffing costs.

FAQ
Q: Is the free Light plan of LINE Official Account enough?
A: The Light plan includes 200 free push messages per month, which suits shops with few friends that rarely broadcast. If you mainly serve customers through auto-replies and one-on-one chats, replies do not count toward your message quota, so the Light plan can last a long time. Once you start sending regular promotional broadcasts, though, 200 messages run out quickly.
Q: Am I charged for auto-replies to customer messages?
A: No. The free message quotas of all three message plans count only the push messages (broadcast/push) that the business sends on its own. Replies sent through the Messaging API to messages customers send you (reply) never use up your plan quota, no matter how many you send. That is why you only need to estimate your push volume when choosing a plan, not your customer service chat volume.
Q: What happens when I use up the 3,000 messages on the Medium plan?
A: The Medium plan (NT$1,000/month from November 1, previously NT$800) does not allow buying extra messages. Once you use up the quota, you cannot send more push messages that month; you have to wait for the next month or upgrade to the Heavy plan. If your push volume often sits near 3,000 messages, consider the Heavy plan, which lets you buy messages beyond the quota. LINE’s official announcements are the final word on the rules.
Q: How is the Advanced Chat plan different from the message plans?
A: The Advanced Chat plan is an NT$100/month add-on that enhances chat management features, and it is required to use LINE’s “AI chatbot (beta).” It has nothing to do with your push message quota. Even with the Advanced Chat plan, push messages are still billed under the message plan you choose.
